September 19th - September 25th: Ahoy thar me hearties! Today (Friday the 19th) is International Talk Like a Pirate Day!

August 13th – August 21st: I hope you all survived Hot August Nights, that annual event that both rocks AND rolls. Hot August Nights came and went and the only time I really saw any cars were when we attempted to go to the movies at the theaters in downtown Sparks. Even then, I saw mostly modern cars taking up every parking space available – with a few beautiful classics driving by. We ended going to the Summit theaters to see Mamma Mia, which, by the way, I LOVED! So fun, funny, and nostalgic. Reminded me of our family vacations, driving to the ocean in the motor home, listening to ABBA on 8-track tapes. We also listened to the Grease soundtrack, Neil Diamond, and Willie Nelson. Nowadays, I still like all those. Little do we know how much our parents influence us (one way or the other) with what gets played in the car. Either way – you can’t help but sing and dance along to the movie. I already have my tickets for the Broadway production that is coming to Reno at the Pioneer Center in June. Woohoo! I’m thinking… that would be some fun journaling next to pictures of our motor home. Those would be Treasured Memories – although I didn’t know it then.

Anyway… what brought that up? Oh yah, Hot August Nights. Hope you had fun. Now it seems like we are in the back to school mode. We have stocked up on all the back to school basics and necessities. If you haven’t been to TMI in awhile, now would be a great time. For all you Friday Flashers, it would be especially great. August 1st – August 7th: Wow! It’s August – how did THAT happen? At times it seems this summer has flown by, other times it seems like it’s going about normal speed, and some cases… really slow. It’s that time in Reno when we will be seeing shiny classic cars and all kinds of tourists around town. Hot August Nights is here and we are excited for all the buzz that occurs in Reno & Sparks during this time. If you are having the debate of whether to go out or stay in, we’ll make it easy for you. Come down to TMI and spend an afternoon or evening cropping with us. You'll be out - but in at the same time! It’s a great way to avoid the crowds, AND actually get some scrapbooking done. June 13th – June 19th: Oooh, this Friday is the only Friday the 13th the entire year! I think we need to mark the occasion by opening an umbrella indoors, then stepping on a crack while walking under a ladder, of course pausing for the black cat to cross in front of us, and making sure that the salt we spilled gets swept away with the glass from the broken mirror. But, if you have “paraskevidekatriaphobia” (fear of Friday the 13th), I researched some ways to feel “safe” on this day.

1. Walk around the house 13 times.
2. Hang your shoes out the window (possibly the smell will get rid of the evil)
3. Walk around the block with your mouth full of water. If you do not swallow it, then you will be 100% safe on Friday the 13th.
4. Or could always just wear or eat garlic. I’m all for eating it… Italian anyone?
5. And finally… it’s been proven – scrapbooking keeps us all out of harms way on Friday the 13th. This actually works all year round. Really! Try it!

Well, we had a graduation in our family. Little Miss Abby graduated from Kindergarten. It didn’t even cross my mind that I might cry. I was just so excited for Abby and for the day, and to get to see her perform in their little music program. I was doing just fine… until they started singing “This Little Light of Mine.” Gulp! Not a tissue to be found, so I sniffled and snorted and did my best to control those free-flowing tears. My daughter looked at me and was instantly concerned; bless her little heart. I took a deep breath, gave her my best. “I’m so proud of you, smile” and a thumbs up and all was okay again.

We have seen so many parents coming in this past month with graduating seniors. I can only imagine the thoughts of how quickly time passes and how our little ones grow up so quickly. I am excited to see what is yet to come, but still kind of sad about all that I will never get to experience again with my little chickie. Adam starts Kindergarten next year, so we still have one that we will get to see go through the ups and downs of the first year of school. Kathy made a good point today. She will be attending her 20th high school reunion this year, and she realized that in contacting many of them, that she has known many of the same kids since elementary school, and even kindergarten. Makes me certainly wonder how many of Abby’s friends will be around 30 years from now. Thanks for letting me share.

Now, moving on to more important matters! Friday News Flash!!! For all of you scrappers, it’s summertime and we know you will be heading out on vacations soon. May 23rd- May 29th: We are back from Camp TMT and ready for more! You would not believe the amount of scrapbooking many of the ladies got done there. Ohmygoodness!!! I did not have as much luck getting actual layouts done; however, I did scrapbook for myself AND I got to eat s'mores with Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. Life just does not get any better than that! Karen & JoElle did a great job and we know you guys are already looking forward to the next one, which is yet to be determined.

I know many of you are heading out of town this weekend, but also that many of you have decided to stay close to home due to CRAZY gas prices and now, the weather. If you are looking for something to do (when you decide to take a little break from scrapbooking), Kathy is having a HUGE Yard Sale in NW Reno. May 16th - May 22nd: Hello all! This has been a crazy few weeks! We had an amazing time at Scrapaganza – thank you all so much for coming and playing with us. We had so much fun and it was definitely a good reminder of why we love scrapbooking so much. I loved seeing so many familiar faces and meeting a few new friends. Although I didn’t get any actual scrapbooking done, I did get my Europe pictures into an album. I narrowed my photo stack down from over 1,000 to about 500. I figure this will at least help me keep them organized and safe, and be able to look through them until they do get into a scrapbook.

I do want to say thanks again to our amazing volunteers who helped make Scrapaganza a success. It's not just a two-day event; it takes a lot of preparation and planning, which we certainly could not do without them. Big hugs and our appreciation go out to Kay, Karla, Leslie, Arlene, Susan, Kristie & Bryan, Tami, Lisa, Treion, Brandon & Chantal, Brandon Jr., Faye & Dave, Jim, Tonna, Guy & Mom! You guys rock!

Kathy and I are off to Camp TMT this weekend and looking forward to just being a cropper. Karen & JoElle from TMT have done all the planning and work and hopefully we will get some scrapbooking done. I can’t think of anything better than to be surround by beautiful scenery, fun and fabulous friends, and scrapbooking! Life is good!

We are planning to be open at least through the summer – we still have great classes and crops going on at all three locations. Sharon is still working there most mornings and I get to work over there in the afternoons. So I am splitting my time between both TMI and TMM.

April 25th – May 1st: Bonjour mon ami’s! I am back in the United States after an 11-day adventure in Italy and France. Thank all of you so much for your well wishes as I set off to go explore Rome, Florence, Venice and Paris with my boyfriend. It was absolutely amazing – we decided we needed another vocabulary word for “wow”. We were in awe most of the time and it just feel surreal while standing next to, or actually in the Colusseum, Pantheon, the Vatican, Notre Dame, the Eiffel Tower, Moulon Rouge, etc. Or standing right next to David, the Mono Lisa, Venus de Milo, Monet’s, Renoir’s, and so many more. We have well over 1,000 pictures (this doesn’t include my flash card we lost on the train from Paris to Frankfurt), so if you’d like to spend an hour or so looking at them, let me know! Ha! I am hoping to get them (at least a portion of them) into a scrapbook during the next few weeks – first at Scrapaganza, then at TMT’s weekend retreat May 16th – 18th. I can always hope. By the way, many of you have asked as well... Paul (boyfriend) is still on deployment to Germany with the Navy and he will be there through September. So we are doing the 5 1/2 month countdown. Thanks for all your prayers and support for him (and all our troops) too!

I am looking forward to seeing many of you this Saturday, April 26th for our TMI Annual Auction. We have some exciting items up for bid, that of course – you get to bid on with your FREE money. All the April dollars that you spent at TMI will get added up and you get to bid with those dollars on over 100 items. As we were putting the items together, we made sure that most of them were at least a $25 value! Be sure and stop by anytime between 10AM and 6PM with your receipts to place your bids.

As a reminder, Treasured Memories will be closed this Sunday, April 27th for the Fiesta on Wells Avenue event and parade. Come join the festivities between 10AM – 7PM.

We are gearing up for Scrapganza and are so excited to see over 150 of you come and celebrate National Scrapbook Day. April 4th – April 10th: Ohmygoodness, I am still laughing from all the fabulous jokes on April Fool’s Day. We handed out many Snicker’s and stickers throughout the day as people came in and gave us their best jokes (some clean, some … not so much). I so wish I could remember them all – then I would share them with you, well - most of them.

I also happen to be just a LITTLE giddy because I am leaving for Italy and France on Wednesday. I figure this Friday Flash has to be extra good, because it probably will be the same one until I get back. Sooo, for all you avid flashers – while I am gone all you have to do is come in and ask “Where in the world is Crissy,” and you will get an additional 15% off all travel merchandise. By the way, this includes all Disney goodies too, because one of my days we will be in Euro Disney in France. I'm sure I will have lots of pictures to share.

Have you finished your taxes yet? April 15th is sneaking up on us super quick. We all need a little break from those (especially our lovely H&R Block girls). So, on Tuesday, April 15th we are having a Tax Relief SALE!!! You get to deduct an additional 10% off all your purchases that day. Mark your calendars – for two reasons: be sure to mail your taxes that day if you haven’t, then come shop at TMI for some tax relief.

Ohmygoodness, I crack myself up! I asked Abby if she knows what April Fool’s day means, and she got a little grin on her face while explaining all the little tricks it was okay to do on that day. She knows. She gets it already. I also have that little grin on my face, thinking what exactly I get to do to my little crazy kids. Mostly, I am looking forward to hearing some of you come in to make us laugh with one of your favorite jokes on Tuesday, April 1st. Tell us a joke on April Fool’s Day and we will give you a Sticker (and a Snickers bar) for making us snicker! I’ll get you started… Knock, knock. Who’s there? Little Old Lady. Little Old Lady Who? …. I didn’t know you could yodel! haha! Sooo funny!! :)

~National Scrapbook Day Reminder~

March 21st – March 27th: Happy Easter everybody!!! Yes, that’s right – Easter is this Sunday! That rascally rabbit, he snuck up on us mighty quick. Just as a reminder, we will be closed on Easter Sunday ~ enjoy your day with your family!

We are so excited for all the sign-ups we have gotten for our 8th Annual Scrapaganza! We have over 100 people signed up already, so we have about 15 spots left. Be sure to sign up soon – you don’t want to miss the event of the year. We have heard from more than one customer that their stuff is still in the exact same place from LAST year’s Scrapaganza. YIKES! So - after this year’s Scrapaganza, let’s all work on getting out our scrapbook supplies a little (lot) more often. For those of you that are attending Ganza, it would be a GREAT idea to start preparing for your scrapbooking weekend right now. This means going through/printing your photos and figuring out what you are going to be working on. Gather the cardstock, patterned paper, embellishments, and adhesives that you need prior to the day so you have them ready to go when you sit down and are ready to crop. You will get more done and feel like you accomplished something.

This week for all you Friday Flashers, we have an “Eggstra” special treat for you. February 8th – 15th: Hi ho, hi ho, it’s off to CHA we go…We are heading down to Anaheim this week for the Craft & Hobby Association buying show. We can’t wait to see all the fabulous new products, bring back some samples, get together with some old friends and meet some new ones. We’ve been getting previews of the new products in the mail and online, it will be fun to see it, hold it, and play with it in person. We will certainly fill you in on all the details when we get back.

Our TMI Bucks are going with gusto! (Gusto is just a fun word to say – in fact, I think I would name my next dog that). Oh yah, back to the Bucks…For every $20 you spend, we are going to hand you a buck back. That’s right, free money! Then on February 23rd or 24th you get to cash them in on our Redemption Days! January 25th – January 31st, 2008: I’m sure there are a few of you out there who really, really love the snow and cold weather. It could be that you are a skier or a snowboarder, or that you just are a huge fan of soup and hot chocolate. Either way, there is more snow expected which to me means more opportunities to stay inside, get out your scrapbooking supplies and enjoy one of your favorite hobbies. And if you’re REALLY ambitious, this is a great time to get your scrap room organized and mass page production ready.

Although we have two days of classes this weekend, we still have another whole month to go (before the next newsletter comes out). Be sure and check out our calendar online to see which classes you just can’t miss.

As an FYI – Chelise’s class, the Year in a Day Album, this weekend has to be rescheduled. Chelise comes from Ely to teach classes and they have a winter storm warning for the entire weekend. We told her, don’t risk it! So, we have rescheduled that class for Sunday, March 2nd, 1-4PM. If you were on the list, you have already had a phone call, but if not, now is your chance to take the class on that day! You can also pick up a kit for the Year in a Day Album class starting next Wednesday.

We also have quite a few page, cards and class kits available for purchase. Chelise has created yet another fabulous card kit just in time for Valentine’s Day. Again, she has outdone herself in making this a very user-friendly kit. The instructions and pictures make it super easy to create the 10 Valentine’s/Love cards. Come check it out.

January 18th - January 24th: Hello all! How are those New Year’s resolutions coming? Have you found a cure for cancer yet? Or written that novel you have always wanted to write? Or, here’s an easy one, have you made a scrapbook page yet? See… doesn’t sound so difficult, does it? We are thrilled that so many of you are sticking to one very important New Year’s resolution – to scrapbook more this year. Our crops have been filling and people are working hard to get those pictures on their pages. You go girls! We have had quite a few new members joining the PAWS group to complete challenges, meet new people, and work on finishing four pages a month. Check out our website for more information.

I am so looking forward to the Pajama Party All Night Crop on Friday, January 25th. I haven’t had the chance to do one in such a long time I can’t wait! I am preparing by working on my best “bed head” and reading up on the latest gossip magazines for all the super important information which is of course all true! We only have a few spots left for this crop so if you want to sign up, I would suggest doing it soon. We also have spots available for some of our upcoming classes. The Valentine Mini Book and Gift Box is so stinkin’ cute and would make the ideal gift for that special somebody. Come check out the sample. We also have a sample of one of our all time favorite classes that Chelise has done every year. The “Year in a Day” Album class on Saturday, January 26th is a very doable, yet adorable way to summarize your entire 2008 as you go through the year. Add a couple of pictures, jot down a little journaling and you have your year all wrapped up in an 8x8 album. You will love how organized and creative Chelise is – come check it out.

Now, for all you Friday Flashers (I love that we can say TMI has it’s own group of flashers), we are going to make it even easier – at least on your bank account, to get those pages done. Many of you have noticed our expanded Clearance Section… I know, it’s huge. As we get ready to head to the CHA show in February, we need to make more room in the store; therefore, we need to add more items to the clearance section, which means (deep breath), that we need your help in clearing out our clearance section. This week if you come in anytime between Friday, January 18th and Thursday, January 24th and tell us that you are “Clearing the way for more merchandise” you will get an Extra 15% off all Clearance Items! Most items are already marked down at least 50%, some up to 75%. So really, there are some items we could be paying YOU to take. Ha.

January 11th – 17th:Okay, so that wasn’t so bad. When they said, “SNOW” I thought we were talking BIG snow. But really, that wasn’t so bad. Now the ice… that’s not so much fun. I hope you all got great pictures of the beautiful snow and all the snow creations that you made. My kids made a princess snow(wo)man, tiara included.

Many of you have asked about P.A.W.S., the Page A Week Society again now that 2008 has begun. All you have to do is complete four pages a month – that’s only two 2-page layouts over the course of an entire month. There are monthly challenges posted online and this month we are doing a Valentine Card Swap! The second Friday of the month is a regular Midnight Madness, but one where we encourage the PAWS members to come to so they can meet the other members. If you are interested in being a part of this free online group, please send us an email or fill out the form on our website. What I love best about this group is that many members of the group post their layouts online so I see their techniques and ideas too. Come in this week and fill out a PAWS Membership form and we’ll send you an invite.

This week, we are accepting entries for our next month’s page layout contest. The theme is “Love” (ahhh), and if you have never turned in a page for the contest before, this is your month. It could be a love for your main squeeze, your kids, your car, coffee, chocolate, or anything else you happen to love. The pages are due by the 15th and it can be a one or two page layout, the size doesn’t matter. Now, I know all of you are thinking… my pages aren’t good enough. Pishaw! (I’m sure that’s a word). I have said many times, that when people vote, they do not vote based on the best composition, the best technique or the best use of glue – they vote for their favorite. And your page could be their favorite! 1st place gets $25 store credit, 2nd place gets $10, and 3rd place gets $5. Everybody gets a little something just for entering. And now, for all you flashers, you get even more of a little something just for entering. When you bring your page in and tell us that “You’ve Been Paged”, you will get a free goodie from TMI! January 4, 2008: Welcome 2008! Are you all ready to create in ’08? What better time than a brand new day in a brand new month in a brand new year? Our January-February Newsletter is now online and full of fabulous classes and crops to make your New Year’s scrapbooking resolutions manageable. With all the snow coming, it’s a good time to stock up on supplies so you can settle in with a cup of something hot, be surrounded by all your scrapbook supplies and not worry about having to go out in the cold. Speaking of Valentine projects… Tonna is teaching an adorable Valentine Mini-Book and Gift Box class on Thursday, January 24th. Plenty of time to put pictures on it and give it somebody you love… kids, parents, boyfriend, husband, the guy that makes your Starbucks in the morning – could go a lot of ways! If you haven’t noticed yet, our website is being updated so the newsletter is up and running but the calendar is still under construction.
